This weekend’s Best Of The West Festival all set to be the biggest and best yet!
This weekend’s Best of the West Festival of music, art, crafts, food and drink held in the grounds of the magnificent Inveraray Castle from 8-10th September 2017 is all set to be the biggest and best yet!
A celebration of music that shines a light on Argyll as a prominent and world-class dining, drinking and travel destination, this year sees Best of the West expand its offering with the introduction of a Friday night programme.
Music headliners include: Skipinnish and Heron Valley (Friday 8th September); Skerryvore, Blazin’ Fiddles and Hunter and the Bear (Saturday 9th September) and Eddi Reader, Tide Lines and Dr Hip & the Blues Operation (Sunday 10th September) with many more bands set to play throughout the festival, from local pipe bands, young talent, Gaelic, traditional and modern folk musicians.
And celebrity chefs demonstrating their skills on the festival kitchen stage include Gary Maclean – winner of Masterchef The Professionals 2016, Graeme Cheevers of Martin Wishart Loch Lomond, Paul Leonard of Isle of Eriska Hotel, Andrew Maclugash of Samphire Restaurant and Thai chef Sujitra Scott.
Eleanor, Duchess of Argyll, Best Of The West Festival founder and chairperson, said: “This year’s Best of the West Festival looks set to be the biggest and best yet! As well as a fantastic programme of musicians, we have celebrity chefs, some of the finest craftsmen in the country and a whole host of children’s entertainments to keep all the family busy!”
Inveraray Castle, the jewel in the West Highland’s crown, provides a stunning venue for the event, which is fully under cover. The imposing, turreted castle, sits on the edge of Loch Fyne surrounded by the breath-taking scenery of the west coast. Best Of The West Festival will take place in the grounds of the castle with the castle itself, hills and loch as a backdrop. EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate, is supporting Best Of The West Festival (BOWFest) through its National Funding Programme.
Stuart Turner, Head of EventScotland, said: “The organisers of this year’s BOWFest have pulled together a great programme of activities, from celebrity chefs showing off their skills to fabulous musical acts; there’s something on offer for everyone. Scotland is the perfect stage for cultural events and the festival is a great boost for Argyll, giving visitors and locals alike the chance to enjoy an amazing event within the stunning grounds of Inveraray Castle."
The Loch Fyne Whisky Marquee offers a perfect opportunity to sample a range of the finest west coast malts while the award-winning George Hotel, Inveraray will host the beer and cocktail bars in association with WEST Beers of Glasgow, brewers of the finest artisan lagers and wheat beers in the UK.
Best Of The West Festival has teamed up with West Coast Motors to provide packages that incorporate special festival bus transport as well as entrance to the festival to and from Glasgow, Oban and Dunoon. To book tickets go to bowfest.co.uk.
