Hardies provides construction services to new £1.2 million Howat Foundation CCLASP Centre, Edinburgh

Hardies Property & Construction Consultants has delivered a comprehensive range of construction services to the new £1.2 million Howat Foundation CCLASP Centre, Edinburgh.

CCLASP Edinburgh

Situated next to the new Sick Kids hospital in Little France, enabled by a generous donation from the Howat Foundation, the purpose-built drop-in centre for CCLASP (Children with Cancer & Leukaemia Advice & Support for Parents) will provide much needed support to families and children experiencing childhood cancer or leukaemia.

With a rooftop garden, sensory rooms, quiet spaces, a family suite, toddler room, play rooms, games rooms, informal cafe and party rooms, this carefully thought-out and well-equipped facility offers an invaluable haven of peace and hub of support for those in challenging times.

Hardies delivered Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Principal Designer services on the project.

Murray Warner, Partner at Hardies, said: “We were privileged to have had the opportunity to provide our cost-effective professional services to this very special project.”

The centre has facilities for parents who need to freshen up or grab some sleep whilst their child undergoes surgery or treatment, or even just a quiet place to gain peace and relax for a while. There are special rooms designed for the children to play and have fun, as well as a rooftop terrace. The centre is furnished with carefully thought-out equipment and practicalities will be taken into consideration for both parent and child.

Willie McEwan, a trustee of CCLASP, added: “Hardies delivered everything we expected – and more. Their team brought added value to the project in so many ways. Our hope is that the centre will be a haven of support for those going through such a difficult and distressing time.” CCLASP was established more than 20 years ago by Val and Bill Simpson and this new centre is a landmark recognition of their tireless charity work.
