Shortlist announced for Holiday Inn Award for Sound Art/Electroacoustic Work at first Scottish Awards for New Music
The shortlist has been selected for the first Scottish Awards for New Music, including the Holiday Inn Award for Sound Art/Electroacoustic Work at the first Scottish Awards for New Music ahead of the winners being announced at an awards event in Glasgow tonight (08.03.17).
The Scottish Awards for New Music have been created by New Music Scotland to celebrate and champion the highest standards and achievements of Scotland’s composers, musicians, sound artists and ensembles.
They are intended to highlight and showcase the innovative, experimental and ground-breaking work taking place in Scotland, as well as the depth and breadth of the country’s contemporary music scene.
The shortlisted nominations for the Holiday Inn Award for Sound Art / Electroacoustic Work are: Mechanical – Timothy Cooper; Pipeline – Pete Stollery and Sourcemouth: Liquidbody – Hanna Tuulikki.

There were over 180 nominations submitted by artists, audience members and the general public, reinforcing the depth and breadth of new music activity in Scotland. Nominations ranged from amateur musicians and emerging artists, to major organisations and household names and covered a wide-range of new music.
Holiday Inn Glasgow Theatreland, in the heart of the city’s cultural quarter, is located within a short walk of Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Theatre Royal, Pavilion Theatre and Kings Theatre Buchanan Galleries, John Lewis, and the famous Style Mile. Glasgow Central and Queen Street train stations are also only a short walk and the hotel sits opposite Buchanan Bus Station where the shuttle from Glasgow International Airport stops.
