Avenue supports World Autism Awareness Week

The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns is supporting World Autism Awareness Week this week.

mall avenue

On Friday 31st March, from 10am – 4pm, volunteers from East Renfrewshire Disability Action (ERDA) and National Autism Society Scotland (NAS) will be in the mall providing information on autism and the impact it has on people and their families.

Centre Manager Michelle McCabe said: “If you’re interested in finding out more about autism, why not come along on Friday 31st and meet the friendly team for advice and support?

“This initiative follows from our recent introduction of a Quiet Hour every morning from 9am till 10am to make visiting The Avenue easier for people with sensory issues and conditions such as autism, by switching off mall music for this full hour every day.

“Our tie-up with ERDA and NAS is just the latest example of our ongoing commitment to community involvement.”

The Avenue Shopping Centre, owned by NewRiver, offers shoppers a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.

Please visit The Avenue’s website at www.avenueshopping.co.uk for the full list of stores involved in its Quiet Hour.
