The Pets’n’Vets Family leads the way in staff development support

The Pets’n’Vets Family network of veterinary practices with surgeries around Glasgow and surrounding areas is leading the way in supporting its staff through veterinary development programmes with one of the largest number of veterinary staff in Scotland enrolled in a variety of veterinary certificates.

The enterprising practice now has eight vets, three nurses and four animal nursing assistants undertaking various qualifications, including: certificates in emergency and critical care; feline medicine and medicine.

Pets’n’Vets staff already comprise a cardiology certificate holder and two small animal surgery certificate holders with a vet in the process of converting his certificate to attain Advanced Practitioner status and join his two colleagues who have already achieved Advanced Practitioner status.

Oliver Jackson, a partner in The Pets‘n’Vets Family, said: “Of all the locally-owned veterinary practices in the country, we feel we are leading the way in terms of supporting our staff through development programmes.

“This really differentiates us insofar as we are a long established veterinary practice where veterinary surgeons can achieve their clinical aspirations in a locally-owned practice with the capacity to provide a comprehensive range of services and nurture their skills and personal development.

“Add to this the fact that we doggedly retain the ‘old fashioned’ veterinary principles of ‘clinical success rather than financial targets’ and we feel we have an unbeatable combination.”

The Pets’n’Vets Family recently launched an enhanced new graduate programme designed to attract the best and brightest new graduates to its practices.

The new.graduatevet programme (or ‘Dot’ programme) provides an innovative approach to new graduate training in Scotland with hands-on surgical training and friendly seminars from Advanced Veterinary Practitioners at the Pets'n'Vets Family’s Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Accredited Roundhouse Veterinary Hospital in Glasgow and a digital edge provided by a website accessible to all new and recent graduates;

The pioneering Dot programme has now been enhanced further by the addition of new CPD elements and the provision of additional monthly benchmarking and seminars.
