Shepherd is now based at Swilken House 35 Largo Road with Hardies, both practices will retain their own branding and identities, with Hardies being the construction arm of the business and Shepherd being its go-to valuation arm.

Ewen Sparks, former president of St Andrews Business Club and former Chairman of St Andrews Merchants Association, is the partner running Shepherd’s valuation surveying services from the St Andrews office.

Commenting on the move, he said: “We’re delighted to move in with our next-door neighbours and I’m greatly looking forward to running an enlarged office with two former Hardies valuers, David Marr and Nigel Forrest. Between us, we now have 60 years’ experience surveying in and around St Andrews, offering clients an unrivalled level of expertise and local knowledge.”

Gary Ovenstone, partner running Hardies’ Construction surveying services from the St Andrews office, added: “We’re pleased to open our doors to welcome our former neighbours and new practice partners into our St Andrews premises where we have been operating from in St Andrews for 20 years this week.

“Hardies and Shepherd share a long and proud history of working within St Andrews and our merger into one unified firm will enhance our offering of a fully comprehensive service to new and existing clients alike.”

Both Shepherd and Hardies share a long history, established in 1880 and 1913 respectively, with each having developed complementary but different disciplines around property advice.
