Southside Hospital wins British Veterinary Hospital Association President’s Award for Front of House Design and Facilities
The Roundhouse Veterinary Hospital in Glasgow’s Southside has been presented with a prestigious British Veterinary Hospital Association (BVHA) President’s Award for front of house design and facilities at a glittering ceremony at Broadway House in Westminster.
Every two years the BVHA organizes a Practice Design Awards covering new build premises, conversion of buildings previously used for other purposes and refurbishment of existing practice premises. In addition, the BVHA President’s Award is presented for an outstanding innovation in the design of a specific area or feature of the practice.
Roundhouse partner Oliver Jackson, said: “We are thrilled to have received one of just six awards presented at this fiercely-fought competition in what was judged to have been a particularly hard-fought competition attracting a huge volume of entrants of a particularly high quality.
“The judges acknowledged our use of colours in our separate patient rooms and waiting space and how the design of our hospital helps us interact with our clients, with special mention of our play Junior Vet Surgery aiding informal and fun education for visiting kids,” said Jackson.
“Receiving this award seems particularly apt as it reflects our practice ethos perfectly: our hospital was built with our clients, their pets and their families foremost in our minds.
“We are also delighted to have maintained the Scottish presence, being the only awarded practice north of the border and following in the footsteps of our colleagues at Martin Vets in Kirkintilloch, who were awarded in 2015.”
The Roundhouse Veterinary Hospital, was opened in January 2016 by TV presenter Carol Smillie and Stewart McDonald, MP for Glasgow South.
Located at a 7500 sq ft customised facility at 43-47 Cogan Road, Auldhouse Retail Park in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, the facility has been designed to deliver the whole suite of pet care services, from nail clipping to vaccinations to some of the most complex surgical veterinary procedures.
The Roundhouse features separate waiting and consultation rooms, separate in-patient wards as well as a number of other innovative stress-reducing features. The clinical wing features state-of the art surgical theatres, preparation areas and diagnostic suites including facilities for providing key-hole surgeries.
The hospital design was carefully considered to encourage the best possible clinical care, stress-free patient environment and client experience.
In addition to conventional waiting rooms, The Roundhouse Veterinary Hospital features a private area for pet owners needing to spend a little more time, dedicated children’s play and learning – vet practice, coffee-station and digital notice boards.
