Shepherd smashes fundraising target at Sleep in the Park
Shepherd Chartered Surveyors Keith Gifford, partner in the firm’s Dalkeith office, his wife Fiona and friends from social landlord Melville Housing Association, smashed their £5000 fundraising target when they took part in Sleep in the Park overnight last Saturday in Edinburgh to raise money for Social Bite.
In the event, Keith and team endured the coldest night of the year and raised an impressive £6500 after Gift Aid.
Keith said: “Waking up with a layer of frost on our sleeping bags on Sunday morning gave us an understanding of some of the elements faced by those who are homeless this winter, but, given the amount we raised, it was well-worth the effort!”
The Sleep in the Park event, in the Capital’s Princes Street Gardens, has a mission to help eradicate homelessness in Scotland within a five-year period. Social Bite is a national Social Enterprise in Scotland. Through a chain of cafes and restaurants it employs over 100 people, many of whom have struggled with homelessness.
