Two of the biggest names in Scotland’s corporate advisory community have been appointed by Edinburgh-headquartered Bedlam Paintball to deliver a range of management training and mentoring programmes as the firm gears up for significant expansion in 2009.
Nelson Gray, European Business Angel of the Year, and Bill Young of Eastern Eagle Enterprises (former Group Finance Director of Prestwick Holdings Plc) will deliver a range of coaching and mentoring programmes to Bedlam’s Managing Director, Roman Rock, and his management team and establish rigorous financial management and planning systems to ensure that the firm is best placed to manage a period of rapid expansion over the next 12 months.
Mr Rock said, “Having met Nelson and Bill through The Entrepreneurial Exchange, I realised that Bedlam could benefit from their advice and experience. 2008 has been a year of significant investment in our facilities and we are now starting to reap the rewards of that investment through significant growth. Nelson and Bill will help ensure that we maximise the opportunities to be had from the expansion of our business throughout the UK in 2009.”
Mr Gray said, “The overall objective of this year long project is to help unlock the full business potential of Bedlam by developing and supporting the existing and emerging management talent in the team. This will be achieved by developing their vision, mindset, skills, belief and business discipline, enabling them to become more comfortable, confident and effective in their management role.”
Mr Young said, “My appointment will encompass ways to improve the management information available within the group and how to educate and train the key staff members who create and use this information. I’ll be working with the senior management team, business managers, the accounts and finance team, site managers and senior management. The training with the senior management team will be targeted at increasing the focus of looking at the strategic issues associated with growing the Group and increasing its profitability.”
Bedlam’s appointment of the two senior corporate advisors has been made with funding assistance from Scottish Enterprise, arranged through account manager Alistair Moir. Already hosting more than 20,000 players a year, Bedlam’s current turnover is £1.2 million and it anticipates a 40% growth in that figure over the next 12 months through significant investment and expansion of its facilities, offices and the recruitment of key staff members.
