Michael McLaren, Sales & Marketing Director, McLaren Packaging, said: “As a company we are environmentally-conscious and our goal is to source and produce premium packaging sustainably. As such, we are delighted to secure FSC accreditation, which demonstrates to our customers that we’re fully committed to the environment and to producing sustainable packaging.

“There is a trend towards buyers within the paper-based packaging sector requiring that suppliers have FSC accreditation as they seek to minimise their environmental impact and carbon footprint.

“All the materials that we source and produce are 100% recyclable. Indeed, all our paper waste is processed and compressed into a baler system and then removed and used as raw material for future corrugate board. We will continue to identify other opportunities for reaching that goal of producing premium packaging sustainably.”

McLaren Packaging recognises the social and economic importance of protecting the environment and is fully committed to complying with the requirements of the Environmental Protect Act 1990 and the EU Regulations 995/2010. It is the firm’s management policy to integrate environmental considerations into its decision-making process.

As part of its environmental commitment, the firm recently completed the largest solar panel installation in Inverclyde (with more than 400 panels installed at its facility in Port Glasgow) producing around 66% of its power requirements.
