Pets’n’Vets Family partner wins prestigious award for contribution to small animal veterinary practice
Ross Allan, a partner in The Pets’n’Vets Family network of veterinary practices with surgeries around Glasgow and surrounding areas, has won the prestigious 2017 BSAVA Melton Award presented for meritorious contributions by a veterinary surgeon to small animal veterinary practice
The BSAVA (British Small Animal Veterinary Association) Awards are designed to show appreciation to dedicated vets who carry out pioneering research, develop new techniques and who are constantly raising the standards of veterinary science.
Commenting on his award-win, Ross said: “As a vet working in a practice committed to evidence-based veterinary medicine, I am delighted to receive this tremendous accolade. I work with a great team at The Roundhouse Veterinary Hospital in Shawlands and appreciate everyone's contributions as The Pets'nVets Family continues to flourish.”
Ross graduated from Glasgow University in 2001 and became a partner in The Pets’n’Vets Family in 2010. He was one of the first cohort to attain the BSAVA Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2014 and achieved RCVS Advanced Practitioner Status in 2015.
Through involvement with various groups, Ross has keenly supported the contribution that general practice can make to the veterinary evidence base. He has also been involved with many aspects of BSAVA both regionally and as International Affairs Committee Chair. He is the current Public Relations Officer.
The Pets‘n’Vets Family’s flagship Roundhouse Veterinary Hospital opened last year with the aim of making available to Glasgow’s pets the full gambit of veterinary treatments; everything from health advice and vaccinations to the most complicated surgical and medical care, including complex fractures, JPS (Juvenile Pubic Symphysiodesis), a ground-breaking surgical procedure that can help prevent hip dysplasia and minimally invasive laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery.
Earlier this week, the Pets’n’Vets Family marked a step change in veterinary care practice in Scotland by introducing interest free payment options on bills from £250 upwards, providing a solution to the issue of affordability for pet care.
